Delilah’s Super Bowl LVIII Prediction

By Delilah Reyes ’26

Raise your hand if you’ve heard this line before:

“The Chiefs are headed to the Super Bowl”.

Likewise, raise your hand if you’ve heard this line before:

“The Detroit Lions are not heading to the Super Bowl”.

They say the past is prelude, and that certainly played out yesterday in the conference title games. Let’s start with my team, Kansas City.

The game essentially came down to a costly goal line fumble by Ravens WR Zac Flowers. At the time–the beginning of the 4th quarter– the Ravens were down 17-7, which means a TD would have made it a one possession game. Instead, Flowers, after a pass from Lamar Jackson, had the ball knocked from his hands as he dove for the endzone, and the Chiefs recovered, ultimately winning the game 17-10.

On the NFC side, the Lions came out of the gate strong, building a 24-7 halftime lead against the favored 49ers. It seemed all but certain that the Lions would finally reach their first Super Bowl….but it was not to be. The 49ers came out in the second half scoring 27 unanswered points en route to a 34-31 comeback victory. It was the biggest comeback from a 1st half deficit in Conference Championship history, a distinction the Lions surely did not want to be on the losing side of.

Needless to say, we all know what my prediction for the Super Bowl is—other than an amazing half time performance by Usher and numerous camera shots of Taylor Swift cheering — the Chiefs will be coming out on top yet again, with Patrick Mahomes winning the MVP.

35-24 CHIEFS
