The Woman I Admire Most

by Michaela Cuellar ’23

My Mom is the woman who I most admire in my life. There are various reasons why this is the case, but first and foremost she doesn’t let people take advantage of her, and never changes who she is simply to please others.

Moreover, she has been through a lot in her life, struggles, hardships, disappointments, setbacks, but has never let those things change her from being kind and caring to those who deserve it.

My mom loves me and my sister unconditionally, and tells and shows us that all the time, even when she is rightfully irritated with us.

And although my mom, like all of us, has her faults, she is aware of them, and tries to be better and improve herself always, in the process teaching my sister and I about humility and growth.

Furthermore, even though my mom struggles with mental health issues, she always tries her best to take care of us.

When I was going through a lot mentally, my mom was there to support me through it all, and always reminded me of how loved I am, and of how wanted and needed I am in the world. She is one of the main reasons I am still here today.

My mom isn’t afraid to fight for me when she feels or sees someone is taking advantage of me. She has spoken up for me with doctors when she recognized they weren’t listening to or respecting what I was saying. She has defended me on multiple occasions and in various ways.

There are so many things I admire about my mom that I can’t put into words, though I hope I was able to scratch the surface of how amazing she is. She is the best mom I could ever wish for, and I love her unconditionally and with all my heart.
