After 4 years of waiting Santa Monica Studios finally released a new God of War. After the recent popularity and success of the previous game in the series this highly anticipated new continuation took the community by storm shattering all expectations of what the fans would possibly think of.
Continuing off of a cliffhanger our god-killer Kratos would have to fight even more norse gods such as Odin, Thor, and Heimdall while trying to prevent Ragnarök a war that will be the destruction of all realms as they know it.
Unlike its predecessors this game brings an entire new definition to anything it’s ever done before.
Combat:
In this Adaptation fighting is much more than just mindless swinging and button mashing. It forces you to make quick decisions, and have lightning fast reactions.
Puzzles:
Within this new addition it forces you to take your brain to an entire different level. The game features complex multi-step puzzles with solutions that’ll have you certainly frustrated, but then feeling a huge sense of accomplishment when you solve them.
Story:
There is a new level of development in everyone apart from the story but especially in Kratos and Atreus, who’ve developed a father-son relationship. Due to Kratos finally being able to express emotions like love & affection and trust with his son; this is after years of being hateful and vengeful, and thinking that emotions like that showed weakness. And Atreus was able to be more independent showing he father he can be trustworthy and isn’t a burden to him but more as an anchor and support.
Conclusion:
Overall this game was a blast, meeting and in fact exceeding all expectations. From the story, to the updated combat and puzzles, this God of War installment was worth the wait and is truly a work of art.
